Music Notes
Rhythm--Melody--Harmony
"Use it or lose it"
There is much said in the Bible concerning singing and praising God with song. A favorite scripture text is Colossians 3:16, "let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. "
Rhythm- this deals with the timing of lengths of tones and how often they occur. Melody- this is the tune. All music is built around the melody. Harmony- this is a combination of two or more tones sounded together that produce a pleasing effect.
Music, good music, is a gift from God and should be regarded as such. Only God can give man the beautiful melodies that we have today. At Second Baptist Church we try to use the best music we can find, whether it is for the Congregation, the choir, or the special music. If you have any musical talent, we ask that you use it for the Lord. You do not have to be a trained musician, just a willing vessel. Most of the people in our choir are not trained musicians, in fact very few. Paul and Silas were not trained, and look what they did when they sang. Remember, "use it or lose it".
